Law and regulations
In 2022, the Maryland General Assembly passed the Time to Care Act, establishing a paid family and medical leave program for workers across the state. The law can be found in Title 8.3 of the Maryland Labor & Employment Code. In October 2025, the Department published proposed regulations to further explain how the program works. FAMLI statute
Title 8.3 of the Maryland Labor and Employment Code, also known as the FAMLI statute, sets the legal requirements for the paid family and medical leave system in Maryland.
